Is facebook a good or a bad weapon in the society ?

1 Oct

To return to Facebook, we would like to show a part of the consequences it can create.

It is not necessary to present Facebook, as it is widespread.

In fact, today, this social networks reprensents alone 1/7 of the mondial population.

Everyday – as this website tell us –  about 350 million photos are uploaded and there are some 699 million daily active users.

Moreover, studies show that facebook is linked with the universe of the job. For instance, I have already spoken with an american girl who said me she has met an employer who asked her if she asked a facebook account. She said that she answered yes because if she answered no the employer would ask her why she has not. Basically he can think she has not because she has no friends or not social life, and it is not good for his company.

But, there is another using of social media which is much more perverse. Indeed, hiring managers usually check your profile before engaging you in a company. According to this website : http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/20/employers-use-facebook-to-pre-screen-applicants_n_1441289.html , “37 percent of hiring managers use social networking sites to research job applicants.”

They can also check profiles to know if you do not blame the buisness on a social media, so it is risky to share private things on facebook.

Nowadays, it is true it is difficult to leave without Facebook, but this world addiction is risky and some organisations have obviously access to all facebook information. I invite you to care more about it because Facebook can be the cause of a candidacy reject.
